Olympics: IOC to hold another meeting with IPC
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has accepted a proposal to hold a meeting once again with the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) ministry officials as the parallel Olympic bodies’ deadlock continues.
The IOC, who backs the Arif-Hasan led POA, is unhappy with the government’s interference in Pakistan’s Olympic matters, and has warned that a ban could be imposed in July if things are not resolved.
With an eye on the continuous stalemate, the IOC has welcomed the officials to come for a meeting in May in order to sort matters before the deadline.
“We accept your proposal for a new meeting and are pleased to invite you to Lausanne, Switzerland,” read an excerpt of the IOC letter to the IPC.“We may propose the date of May 21 for a meeting with IOC representatives, including in particular IOC members Syed Shahid Ali and Arif Hasan.”
