Extension of ceasefire dependent on addressing TTP concerns: Prof Ibrahim

Says government has been notified about TTP concerns regarding the release of prisoners.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intermediary Prof Ibrahim said on Friday that the ceasefire could be extended if TTP's concerns regarding the release of prisoners were addressed.

Speaking to Express News, Prof Ibrahim said that the government has been notified about their concerns, adding that Jamiat Ulema Islam (Sami group) chief Maulana Samiul Haq spoke to the government committee about this issue.


He said that TTP have made efforts to ensure that the ceasefire remained intact.

Prof Ibrahim further said that the TTP committee does not have any direct contact with the Taliban, adding that they found out about the TTP's decision not to extend ceasefire through the media.

He also said that both committees are in touch and that they will meet in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) once substantial steps are taken.
