Out on the streets: JUI-F protest ban on opening madressas
Led by the JUI-F’s provincial general-secretary, the workers protested outside the Press Club.
HYDERABAD:
Hundreds of workers of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) took to the streets to condemn the government ban on setting up new madressas in Sindh. Led by the JUI-F’s provincial general-secretary, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, the workers protested outside the Press Club. “We don’t accept this ban,” declared Soomro while addressing the workers. “We will build and open new madressas regardless of it. If the people of Sindh decide, we will turn Chief Minister House and Jillani House in Khairpur [the residence of CM Qaim Ali Shah] into madressas.” Moreover, he blamed the US for masterminding the clampdown on madressas.
