Cannibalism: Govt’s reply sought on petition seeking legislation

The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notice to the government for a reply on petition seeking legislation on cannibalism.



Advocate Kashif Solomani had filed the petition in the wake of a lenient sentence handed out two brothers from Bhakkar who admitted to eating human flesh.

The lawyer said there was no specific law to punish cannibals. He said stricter legislation should be introduced to punish cannibals. The petitioner asked the court to order the government enact a law on cannibalism. Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh  the government’s reply sought replies in two weeks. The petitioner has named the inspector general of police, Bhakkar DCO, the law ministry and provincial government as respondents.
