Funfair raises funds for flood-hit students

Quaid-i-Azam University hosted a funfair to raise funds for students in the flood affected areas.

ISLAMABAD:
A funfair was held in Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) on Friday to raise funds for students in the flood affected areas.

The event titled “Quaidian Family Festival and Job Fair 2010” was organised by the QAU Alumni Association (QAUAA) in collaboration with Quaidians Intellectual Forum.

Present students and university alumni along with their family members participated in the event.

It was an effort to support and show solidarity with the university’s students from flood affected areas.

Students demonstrated cultural shows and sung folk songs as well.


Federal Secretary for Ministry of Special Initiatives Raja Muhammad Ikramul Haq inaugurated the event. He appreciated the efforts of QAU Alumni Association for taking practical steps to support flood affected students.

Vice Chancellor QAU Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Chief Organizer QAU Alumni Asif Noor and Secretary General QAU Alumni Muhammad Murtaza visited the funfair.

QAUAA is a non-profit voluntary organisation established by the university’s alumni as a social and interactive forum. QAU Islamabad and QAUAA have already signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate for the benefit of present and past students.

He said that the interaction between professionals and students was very educational and inspirational. Even before the event, alumni had already contributed Rs500,000 for flood affected students.
