On Apr 15, Shahbaz Sharif took notice of alleged gang rape of 16-year-old orphan girl.
SAHIWAL:
A day after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old orphan girl in Sahiwal, the police claimed to have arrested the main suspect, Express News reported on Wednesday.
Six weeks ago, an orphan girl was allegedly raped by six men in the Nawahi village of the city. The other five suspects had been arrested earlier.
On April 15, Shahbaz had ordered the police to arrest the alleged rapists within 48 hours.
The girl was taken from her house to an unknown location where she was allegedly raped and video-taped. She was purportedly blackmailed by the suspects that if she informed the police about the incident she will be publicly shamed as the video will be shown to her entire village.
The Punjab chief minister had also suspended SHO, DSP and investigation officer yesterday for their negligence in the investigation regarding the gang rape.
