ISLAMABAD:
A two-day wall-climbing competition for children and teenagers kicked-off at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday.
The competition, organised by the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), is specially designed for youngsters.
The wall-climbing contests are divided into four age-based categories: under-8, under-10, under-12 and under-14.
Around 200 students from Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in the competition on the opening day, according to the ACP.
ACP officials said the wall- climbing facility at the sports complex is
popular with youngsters especially aspiring mountaineers.
They said the Alpine Club is committed to conducting more wall climbing contests in future to generate interest among amateur climbers of the twin cities.
The competition will culminate on Sunday with final rounds of climbing and a prize distribution ceremony for the winners.
