They were found transferring funds amounting to Rs1.8m into sports minister’s account.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak suspended Secretary Sports Ahmad Hassan, DG Sports Tariq Mehmood and Deputy District Officer (DDO) Muhammad Tariq for transferring funds amounting to Rs1.8 million into the personal account of Minister for Sports Mehmood Khan.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Khattak acknowledged reports highlighted in the press regarding the transfer of discretionary funds into the minister’s personal account and ordered an immediate enquiry.
After going through the record and statements, enquiry officer Hammad Uwais Agha determined that the case of transfer of funds was processed on file by the sports secretary, DG and DDO which was in violation of over 20 rules.
The enquiry report pointed out the minister had no role in the matter as handling of financial affairs falls within the jurisdiction of the principal accounts officer and his staff.
The enquiry has also pointed out that a BS-17 officer was working on a position of DG Sports which requires a BS-19 position.
The chief minister, on the advice of the chief secretary, issued suspension orders with immediate effect to be followed by disciplinary proceedings against the accused.
