Sindh High Court on Thursday extended its temporary stay against the construction of underpasses and a flyover in Karachi’s Clifton locality.
The director alleged that certain groups and individuals with vested interests were opposing the project for their own gains and assured the court that construction work would not harm historical sites. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation also mentioned similar facts and requested the court to dismiss DHA’s lawsuit.

Sindh High Court on Thursday extended its temporary stay against the construction of underpasses and a flyover in Karachi’s Clifton locality.
Defence Housing Authority (DHA) had challenged the project, claiming that the construction was initiated without seeking approvals regarding impact on environment and nearby heritage sites. The court, while granting a temporary stay, issued notices to different government departments and civic agencies to explain the allegations.
On Thursday, Bahria Town director Zain Malik told the court that projects in Clifton were launched in public interest to ease traffic jams. He added that all legal formalities had been complied with.
