Disciplinary action: Courts asks IG to stop IOs’ salaries
Court had issued show-cause notices against several investigation officers, including the nine officials.
KARACHI:
A district and sessions court has asked the Sindh IGP to withhold the salaries of nine investigation officers who not only failed to submit charge sheets in their cases but also did not appear before the court despite several notices.
The court had issued show-cause notices against several investigation officers, including the nine officials, who were delaying the trials of as many as 57 cases. These officials include Muhammad Yaseen, Muhammad Mitthal, Shoaib Jilani, Roohul Ameen, Anisur Rehman, Fasihus Zaman, Moinuddin, Ahmed Yaar and Muhammad Ejaz.
Earlier, the court issued show-cause notices to the officials through the relevant SSPs and SHOs, but the officials neither submitted the final reports in the pending cases nor did they appear before the court. “The cases cannot proceed for want of a final report,” said judge Mohammad Ashfaq Awan, a civil judge and judicial magistrate in district West, stated the letter addressed to the IGP.
Earlier, the court had directed the Investigations SSP in district West to direct the investigation officers to submit the final reports and take disciplinary action against them as the stipulated time had lapsed.
