NOWSHERA:
Residents of Armour Housing Society, Nowshera, blocked Manki Road on Thursday and protested against the housing society in front of Nowshera Press Club.
Mian Tajamul Shah led the protest and stood outside the press club with the residents who chanted slogans against the administration of the housing society. Shah said they had come to the streets to protest against nepotism and corruption. He added the housing society administration had issued multiple NOCs illegally to people in surrounding areas and this created problems for the society’s residents who ended up paying heavier taxes, bills for more security and other facilities.
Addressing the protesters, Shah said the administration had increased water supply rates, was collecting funds for a mosque and computerised allotment letters, besides taking others steps against the residents.
Fahad Kakakhel, a resident of the housing society, said they had constructed their homes according to the laws and regulations implemented by the administration in 1982. Now, he said, they were being forced to adopt new laws which were not in their favour.
He added the administration was earlier allegedly involved in corruption and nepotism, however, no one could take action against them due to their influential background.
After protesting for a while, the residents lifted the blockade but warned they would launch a massive protest against the housing society’s administration if their issues were not resolved.
