KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court directed the anti-encroachment department to act in accordance with the law during their operation against alleged encroachments in Noorani Colony on Wednesday.

This order came on a petition filed by the residents of Noorani Colony. Muhammad Ashiq Qureshi and others told the judges that officials of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's anti-encroachment department and the Board of Revenue's anti-encroachment cell have started removing constructions carried out by the residents, who had been living there since the 1970s and awaiting regularisation.

They said that since 1985, different governments had announced that they will regularise the colony but to no avail.
