Accountability: Driver arrested for hitting constable

CPO said the bus driver Muhammad Rafiq, resident of Mureedwala, managed to escape immediately after the accident.

FAISALABAD: Factory Area police on Wednesday arrested the bus driver who ran over a police constable at Rajbah Road on April 3. City Police Officer (CPO) Haidar Ashraf said Constable Muhammad Akbar Raza was going to Jhang Bazaar when a rashly driven bus hit him. He was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries. The CPO said the bus driver Muhammad Rafiq, resident of Mureedwala, managed to escape immediately after the accident. He said he took notice of the accident and ordered Factory Area SHO Khalid Mehmood to search for the driver immediately. The SHO had seized the bus and constituted a special team. “After six days of efforts and several raids, police have succeeded in arresting the driver”, the CPO said.
