SUKKUR:
Many people have sacrificed their lives for this country and 'my father [Bashir Qureshi] is one of them', said Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) chairperson Sanan Qureshi.
Addressing a public gathering at the Ratodero bypass on the occasion of the second death anniversary of his father on Monday, Sanan said that since his childhood, he had seen Bashir deep in thought, always mulling over about the welfare and prosperity of Sindh and its people.
"Today, the people have gathered here from every nook and cranny of Sindh to pay homage and to express their love to my Shaheed Baba," he said, before lamenting the recent killings of senior party workers. "What was the fault of Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadhiyo, who were kidnapped and then killed?"
JSQM leaders, including senior chairperson Dr Niaz Kalani and general secretary Amjad Mahesar, also expressed their doubts over the current rulers, feeling that they will not be able to provide justice to the party.
The speakers said that the murders of Bashir and Maqsood are infect a source of inspiration for them and added that they will try to fulfil Bashir's vision, even if they have to lay down their own lives for the purpose.
They also announced that, from next year, the party will celebrate March 23 as 'cultural day', rather than hold a freedom march, which they traditionally held.

Earlier, thousands of workers, led by the party's central leadership, took to the streets from the former residence of Bashir in Motanpur Muhalla. They then gathered at his mausoleum near the Ratodero bypass, where they laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha.
Convoys of JSQM workers started arriving in Ratodero on Monday morning to pay homage to their slain leader. Strict security measures were adopted, in and around the venue, to avert any untoward incident.
