ISLAMABAD: Underscoring the need to educate general public about civic issues, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to launch its own radio station in about a month. Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) granted a non-commercial FM radio broadcasting license to CDA on Tuesday. Intended purely for educational purposes, the station’s coverage area will be around 30-35 kilometres. CDA Administration Member Amer Ali Ahmad said informative programmes will run on the station, educating listeners about CDA’s policies as well as solutions and ways to process queries at the civic agency’s offices. These programmes will also take live calls from residents to invite suggestions for improvements and to lodge complaints. The tentative list of themes includes details of illegal housing societies, major housing bylaws, health advisories, events and encroachment drives, he added.
