Initiatives: Steps being taken to explore iron ore

Provincial Minister of Mineral and Coal Mining Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan on Monday said foreign investors were taking keen interest in different sectors of Pakistan. “Pakistan is rich in natural resources which can be explored for the benefit of the people,” he said while talking to the Pakistan Television. According to Khan, the government is taking initiatives to encourage deep drilling for exploring best quality iron ore. “Pakistan has a large quantity of coal and iron ore which can be utilised for generating cheap energy besides establishing a steel mill in Punjab.” Replying to a question, he said Chinese companies were taking interest in the energy sector, including Nandipur power project, adding a huge investment was being made to produce cheap electricity for meeting the needs of consumers.
