PESHAWAR:

The principal of Government College Peshawar (GCP) along with a few other staff members were transferred over charges of irregular admissions following an enquiry conducted by the Higher Education Department’s (HED) provincial chapter.

The chief minister’s complaint cell had reportedly received complaints against irregular admissions on sports seats where merit had allegedly been overlooked and deserving students not admitted in 2013.

HED officials said an enquiry panel proved the charges against GCP’s principal Dr Alamzeb which is why he was transferred. The officials, however, refused to share the names of the other staff members.

Dr Alamzeb could not be contacted for comment despite repeated attempts.
