All the injured victims were shifted to the District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital DI Khan and were said to be out of danger.

Moreover, farmers suffered heavy losses as standing crops were damaged due to the downpour in Daraban, Parowa, Zala Bari and Pahar Pur tehsils of the district. The supply of electricity was also suspended in Kot Taga, Musa Zai and Chowdwan, among other areas and telephone lines also remained disconnected in some areas.

The city is frequently flooded during heavy rains as heaps of garbage chokes rainwater drains, which results in standing water in most areas — especially Dayal Road, Diwala, Tank Adda and Bannu Adda.

“The municipal committee fails to ensure cleanliness despite repeated public complaints. Even when they are not on strike they seldom carry out cleaning operations in the city,” said Anwarullah, a resident of Awan Abad Colony.

Residents claimed that employees of the municipal committee have been protesting against the non-payment of their salaries for the last three, months and their boycott of duties has led the rainwater to accumulate in the streets. Heavy rainfall was also recorded across several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
