PU book fair: 154,000 books sold in three days
Vice Chancellor says book fair proves culture of reading could be promoted if books were sold at reduced rates.

The three-day book fair at the Punjab University has set a record for the most number of books sold at a book fair, said a press statement issued by the PU on Sunday. According to the statement, 154,000 books were sold at the book fair. Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran has said the book fair proves that the culture of reading could be promoted if books were sold at reduced rates. He said the habit of reading books must be promoted as it helps character building, increases knowledge and polishes one’s creative skills. He said the government must make concerted efforts to provide books on low rates. He congratulated Chief Librarian Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif and the heads of various book fair administrative committees. The Punjab University Centre for Peace and Security Studies will hold a seminar on National Internal Security Policy at 11am at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies. Dr Riffat Hussain will address participants on the occasion.
