Facing opposition: Anti-encroachment team attacked
Anti-encroachment team removed illegal bus stops, hotels, shops from other parts of city.
KARACHI:
A group of armed men attacked the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) anti-encroachment team in Quaidabad on Thursday. Law enforcement agencies have arrested more than 10 suspects allegedly connected with the attack, according to a statement issued by the KMC on Friday. Despite the attack, KMC administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui stressed that the ongoing campaign against encroachments will continue. The anti-encroachment team was able to remove hundreds of illegal shops and stalls from the area. The encroachments were a hassle to residents and the drive provided welcome relief. The anti-encroachment team also removed illegal bus stops, hotels and shops from other parts of the city, including Malir and Bahadurabad.
