Basic rights: Tribesmen face acute water shortage
Tribal elder demands political administration take action against land owner.
GHALLANI:
Residents of Prang Ghar, lower Mohmand Agency, held a protest on Thursday over the non-availability of potable water. Leading the protesters, tribal elder Ali Muhammad said the government had constructed a tube well for drinking water, but the land owner had stolen the pipe worth Rs6 million and allegedly prohibited them from carrying water to their homes. Muhammad demanded the political administration to take action against the land owner, saying the tribesmen would otherwise take matters into their own hands. The agency is noted for having an acute shortage of drinking water.
