SHC orders FBR to release seized PIA aircraft
FBR had confiscated the carriers for non-payment of taxes worth Rs56 million, which PIA claims are not applicable.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately release two of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft it had seized earlier, Express News reported.
The FBR had confiscated the carriers for non-payment of tax worth Rs56 million. PIA had then filed a petition, challenging this move.
During today’s hearing, PIA lawyer Haider Sheikh informed the court that the two aircraft were rented from a European company and the said tax was not applicable on them.
After hearing the argument, the SHC ordered the release of the aircraft. The trial was adjourned till April 28 when the applicability of the tax will be discussed.
