Seven other people fainted as well after consuming the toxic food and were taken to Civil Hospital for treatment, where their stomachs were pumped.
Doctors said that one woman was in critical condition while the others were stable.
The child and the teenager were five and 13 years of age respectively.
Other incidents
On January 15, four children had died after eating poisonous food at their house in Nurpur village in Vehari, according to their family. Police had said siblings Zahid, 9, Humaira, 7, Sumaira, 6, and Mujahid, 4, started throwing up after eating home-cooked food. They were taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Just two weeks before that, two sisters had died while their mother and three siblings had fallen ill after consuming poisonous food at their home in Korangi, Karachi.
As the apparent result of eating poisonous food, 17 year-old Rameen and 19 year-old Mahim, had died as they were being shifted to a hospital. Their mother, 45 year-old Akbari Begum, their three sisters, Misba, Samia and Jugni were admitted to Poisonous Ward at the Jinnah Hospital.
