The government plans to double the allocation for education in the forthcoming annual budget. This was said by Minster of State for Education Balighur Rehman, while talking to his South African counterpart, who called on him on Tuesday.
“When a democratic transition took plac, we faced the same scenario Pakistan is witnessing today.”

The government plans to double the allocation for education in the forthcoming annual budget. This was said by Minster of State for Education Balighur Rehman, while talking to his South African counterpart, who called on him on Tuesday.
The minister said Pakistan had to focus on improving girls’ schooling and the quality of education. To ensure greater access to quality education and enroll out-of-school children number, which number around six million, the government plans to increase the education budget up to four per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP). The allocation for education is currently around two per cent of GDP, he added.
South African Deputy Home Minister Fatima Chohan saidthe number of girls in schools was also quite low, but more of them were reaching universities in South Africa than ever before.
