A woman accused of murdering her husband two days ago, managed to flee from Abdul Hakeem police station on Monday.
Abdul Hakeem SHO Gul Muhammad told The Express Tribune that Kausar Bibi, 41, had confessed to killing husband Muhammad Zafar, 43. She said her husband, a journalist, used reporting on women’s rights as a cover to have illicit relations with women. Zafar was a reporter for an Urdu daily in Khanewal. He had apparently married Kausar Bibi for love.
Police said during initial investigations, the woman said that she saw her husband’s job of covering women’s activities as unethical.
A murder case had been registered against Kausar Bibi. Abdul Hakeem arrested her but there were no women’s lockup or a lady constable at the police station. On Monday, Kausar Bibi went to use the washroom and escaped from there. Police said they will track her down within a day.
