The Pakistan women’s team will be looking to get some points in the bag in their Group A match against Ireland, as they exit the Women’s World Twenty20, at the Sylhet stadium.
Pakistan and Ireland have lost all three games they have played in the tournament so far. Humiliating defeats at the hands of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have knocked them out of the event.
This match will be equally important to both teams, who will be looking to end the disappointing tournament with some form of consolation.
India crushes hosts Bangladesh
India’s Harmanpreet Kaur struck a brilliant 77 as her team crushed hosts Bangladesh by 79 runs at the Sylhet stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, India made a good start to the innings with openers Kaur and Mithali Raj (41) guiding them to a commanding score of 151 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh only managed to score 72 in their allotted 20 overs as yet again their batting failed to show any form of resilience.
Shubhlakshmi Sharma and Poonam Yadav were the pick of the bowlers for India, grabbing three and two wickets respectively.
The victory gives hope to India, as they now have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals, while hosts Bangladesh are out of the tournament with a disappointing record of three losses in three games.
