Pakistan seal resounding win against Bangladesh

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 50 runs, Ton-up Shehzad named Man of the Match.

DHAKA:
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 50 runs in a Group Two Super-10 match of the World Twenty20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday, staying in contention for the semi-finals.

Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 190 at a cost of 5 wickets.

Opener Ahmed Shehzad smashed an unbeaten 111 off 62 balls, becoming the first ever Pakistani batsman to have scored a century in T20 internationals.

The 22-year-old hit 10 boundaries and five sixes, sharing a fourth-wicket stand of 83 with Shoaib Malik (26) in the group two match.

Shehzad, who reached his century off 58 balls in the 18th over, was caught off a Mashrafe Mortaza no-ball in the 19th after hitting the previous ball for a six. He was declared Man of the Match.

The let-off proved expensive as Pakistan scored 44 runs in the last two overs, with Mortaza conceding 24 in the penultimate over.

Pakistan must defeat defending champions West Indies on Tuesday to join India in the semi-finals as the second team from the group.
