ISLAMABAD:

A woman and her son were murdered in a house in Sector G-11/3 early on Saturday, according to the police.

The police said 50-year-old Bushra Zafar and her son, Mubashar, 28, were stabbed to death with a sharp object.

The bodies were discovered by Zafar’s younger son, Mujadid, who told the police he had returned home on Saturday from Lahore, where the police said he had gone to pick up his wife.

According to the police, Mujadid said he had spoken with his mother and brother over the phone on Friday and informed them he would be arriving later that night.

When he reached home past midnight, he said no one responded to the doorbell. He then climbed over the wall to enter the house, according to the police. Inside, he found his sibling and mother dead. He informed the police around 2:30am on Saturday.

The police said the mother had two visible wounds on her body — one on her head and the other on her forehead. Mubashar, who was a lecturer at a private university near Rawat, according to the police, was stabbed nine times with what is believed to be a sharp object. When police found Mubashar’s body, his hands were tied behind his back, indicating he was overpowered and tied up before being killed.

Police are saying the woman’s husband, who is a deputy director in the CDA, was living separately in a house near Sitara Market. They believe the couple had been having marital problems.

By Saturday afternoon, the police said they had few details about the apparent homicides but said they have not ruled out personal enmity as a potential motive for the killings. They said no items were missing from the house, so it does not appear to be a robbery-murder.

“It is obviously a murder incident,” said an investigating officer at the Ramna Police Station, which has registered a murder case against unidentified persons.
