High alert: Security beefed up around Quaid’s mausoleum

Security has been beefed up at Mazar-e-Quaid after there were reports of possible terrorist attacks on Friday night.
Several commandos, Rangers and police personnel have been deployed around the mausoleum. Many pickets of law enforcers have been set up and officials are conducting snap-checking on all roads leading to the mausoleum.
In addition, many roads around the mausoleum are blocked.
Sources said that federal interior ministry has also instructed the relevant authorities to monitor the vehicles with LPG cylinders on the entry routes of the city.
A ban has also been imposed on the entry of all vehicles inside the mausoleum.
"There are serious threats of terrorism by a banned outfit," said Brigade police station SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi while talking to The Express Tribune. "We are allowing the visitors only after thorough check."
He said that the law enforcers will remain on high alert for the security of the mausoleum. Besides Karachi, strict security measures are also taken at key locations in Lahore, including the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal and shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh.
Elite force commandos are also deployed at the mausoleum to avoid any untoward incident.
