LAHORE:

Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Friday it was tragic that the federal government had not condemned his off-loading from a Canada-bound plane.

He said that the government should have summoned the Canadian high commissioner and demanded an explanation on why a dignitary was removed from the plane.

Members of Provincial Assembly Khawaja Imran Nazir and Mian Shahbaz Ahmed said Rashid should resign from the National Assembly.

They said he had been a minister under a dictator (General Musharraf) for years and lacked political credibility.

They said he was one of the few people who had objected to public welfare projects.
