Earth Hour: Lights off, candles out

The event at Qarshi University will have celebrity ambassadors.

WWF-Pakistan will host an Earth Hour event at Qarshi University on Saturday (today).


Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashood Ahmed had signed the pledge for the official celebrations of Earth Hour in the Punjab Assembly. Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Lahore DCO Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi and PHA Director General Mian Shakeel Ahmed were also present.Talking to newsmen, Iqbal said, “We will celebrate Earth Hour in the Punjab Assembly from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We are hopeful that such efforts will raise conservation awareness among citizens.”

The event at Qarshi University will have celebrity ambassadors including documentary maker Feryal Ali Gauhar and singer Zoe Viccaji, Mehreen Raheel, Nadia Jameel, Ali Tahir, Rehan Butt and Omair Rana. This celebration will include a talent show and school students will make pledges and light candle.
