Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted two separate committees to prepare feasibility reports for the provision of a special health package to Tharparkar district.
Shah directed the health authorities to increase the number of basic health units from 31 to 48 and ensure that people of each union council of the district are able to avail the facilities. He was addressing a video conference with officials in Mithi on Thursday. He claimed that 237,314 families in the district have been provided wheat. The CM also directed the health department’s director-general to prepare a feasibility report.
The health secretary, quoting reports by the World Health Organisation and the United Nations, said the main causes of death in the district were premature births, asphyxiation, pneumonia and sepsis.
