“The role of women in socio-economic uplift of Pakistan is remarkable,” former Chief Election Commissioner of India Mahonar Singh Gill said on Thursday.


Inaugurating a Family Fun Day and sports gala at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), he said women’s empowerment was necessary for any society to progress. “I am impressed to see the active participation of women in various activities at the university,” he said.  He said Indian and Pakistani agricultural experts should work together to cope with food insecurity and climate changes.

He said Ludhiana University had initiated outreach activities to address the problems of the farming community.  UAF Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the university was taking all possible measured to impart quality education. He said UAF was facilitating its women students and faculty members.

The Fun day was organised by the Institute of Rural Home Economics and the Office of Senior Tutor.
