Chinese asked to invest in economic zones

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has urged the 24-member Chinese trade delegation to invest in creating special economic zones in Pakistan. SMEDA experts, while giving a briefing to the delegation on trade and investment opportunities existing in the SME sector of the country, said that Pakistan has a huge potential of foreign investment in the fields of Information technology, construction, logistics and engineering.
A team of SMEDA experts comprising Nadia Jahangir Seth, DGM Policy and Planning, Sheharyar Tahir, Manager External Relations and Muhammad Imran Chaudhry, Manager SMEDA-UNIDO Investment Promotion Unit welcomed the delegation and gave a presentation on the potential of Pakistan’s SME sector along with the projects and services of SMEDA to accelerate this sector.
Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif was accompanying the delegation as coordinator. The delegation leader Tan Chengce emphasised upon the exchange of more trade delegations between Pakistan and China to increase the bilateral economic cooperation.
“The private and public sectors of both the countries should avail the facilitation offered by the government of Pakistan and China to expand industrial and commercial joint ventures between the two friendly nations,” he said.
