On campus violence: Five injured as student group clash

Five students suffered bullet injuries when activists of two student organisations at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) fought for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
Activists of the Peoples Students Federation (PSF) and Anjuman Taliba-e- Islam (ATI) fought at the Abdul Haq campus of Fuuast, where at least five students suffered bullet injuries. In similar clashes between the two organisations on Tuesday, students fought with batons and threw stones at each other. Three students were injured as a result and were taken to Civil hospital.
The police and campus administration settled the dispute on Tuesday but, on Wednesday, the two groups resorted to firing. Five members of PSF — Sajid, Kamran, Mumtaz and Ishtiaq — were injured and taken to Civil hospital. Other students smashed furniture and threw stones at each other while others remained terrorised. Exams could not be held and were cancelled by the administration.
SP Sheraz Nazir confirmed that the injured belong to PSF and two of the injured are in critical condition. Eidgah police registered an FIR against some members of the ATI and some unknown men.
