PESHAWAR:
A man was shot dead when he resisted an armed robbery on Ashraf Road on Tuesday.

Police said Shah Wali was on his way to a bank to deposit money when unidentified men attacked him and tried to take the cash. When he resisted, they shot and injured him. He was taken to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) but succumbed to his injuries on the way. “The robbers managed to take Rs1 million,” said a police official.

Wali was a manager of a wholesale shop on Ashraf Road and dealt in supplying food grains.

Enraged, traders took the body and placed it on GT Road, blocking traffic. They demanded security for the business community and urged the government to address the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

Meanwhile, the general manager of an industrial unit at Hayatabad Industrial Estate was kidnapped from Karkhano Market.

Abdullah’s son Wasim Abdullah lodged an FIR with Hayatabad police stating his father was commuting in his car on Jamrud Road when he was intercepted and overpowered by armed men who whisked him away.

Police registered FIRs for both cases and started investigation.
