Creating goodwill: Office formed to monitor aid schemes
Total size of aid programme has been approved to increase from $300 to 500 million by the prime minister.
ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Friday directed to set up PAKAid organisation to coordinate international assistance programmes in order to promote goodwill for Pakistan in recipient countries. He said this while chairing the 10th meeting of the ‘Committee for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Afghanistan’ (CRRA) and added that structural and procedural reforms were also approved in prime minister’s programme for reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan. The committee was informed that prime minister has approved the proposal for the shifting of project scrutiny and approval process for new projects from CRRA to the regular project approval forums, CDWP and ECNEC. Moreover the total size of aid programme has been approved to increase from $300 to 500 million by the prime minister. He also reviewed progress of ongoing projects which included Nishter Kidney Centre Jalalabad, Rehman Baba School, Jinnah Hospital Kabul, Naib Aminullah Khan Logari Hospital at Logar.
