Targeted killing: 2 killed in Quetta’s Satellite Town

Unidentified assailants shot dead two men on Friday in Quetta’s Satellite Town neighbourhood where there is a high concentration of Afghan refugees. Targeted killings pose a huge threat in this neighbourhood.
The attackers opened fire at the two men from a car. The victims were identified as Abdul Kamal and Abdul Nabi, both residents of Quetta. Both the victims died on the spot, while the killers sped away unchallenged.
The deceased were later shifted to the Provincial Sandeman Hospital Quetta.
“The attackers used an AK-47, which is an unusual weapon of choice in targeted killings,” said a senior police officer Mohammed Jaffar, adding that investigations were under way to determine the motive behind the crime.
More than 30 people – including nationals and religious clerics of the neighbourhing country – have so far been killed in Satellite Town and Pashtunabad neighbourhood, where most Afghan refugees have taken shelter.
Pashtunabad is a congested area with most houses made of mud and straw.
