Environment: UVAS to grow orchard

Ijaz Ahmad calls for stopping the increasing trend of deforestation in the country.

“The Department of Environmental Science will plant an orchard at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Ravi Campus,” said UVAS Vice Chancellor Talat Naseer Pasha said on Friday.


He was talking to newsmen after an awareness walk organised in connection with the World Water and Forest Day. The walk was organised by the Society for Conservation of Environment and Nature to raise awareness about the importance of forests and safe drinking water. Pasha led the walk. WWF Director General Dr Ijaz Ahmad, deans of faculty, teachers and students participated in large numbers.

The walk was followed by a seminar was arranged where experts spoke on the importance of water and forests.

Ijaz Ahmad called for stopping the increasing trend of deforestation in the country.
