“The country can progress if we focus on the youth and educate them,” District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said on Friday.
He was addressing students at the Lyallpur Art and Literature Festival at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF).
Mengal announced a Rs1 million grant for the UAF’s literature festival. “Lyallpur has a rich culture… the district government is taking all possible measures to preserve the city’s heritage as well as provide a platform to students to exhibit their skills.”
He said the Lyallpur Canal Festival was one of the steps taken by the administration to promote the culture.
The DCO praised the UAF for imparting quality education. He said the district government had also mapped out a comprehensive strategy to beautify the city.
“Rs50 million has been allocated for preserving the cultural heritage of Faisalabad.”
Actress Faryal Gohar praised the UAF for promoting art and literature. She said performances by students at the festival proved that the country’s youth possessed enormous talent.
