Technology and research training on GIS kicks off

Short courses will cover topics including GIS concepts, satellite remote sensing and latest development in RS.

RAWALPINDI:
To sharpen research and improve economy, the Arid Agriculture University begins 15-day training on Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS). The course is organized by the Department of Geo-Informatics, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR). PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad speaking at the inaugural ceremony emphasized the need of utilizing satellite data in combination with the GIS to enhance efficiency in research. Department of Geo-Informatics Chairman Dr Mubashir Riaz Khan apprised the participants of various research outputs in the fields of water resource management, food security, agricultural monitoring, disaster risk reduction and urban planning and management. The short courses will cover topics including GIS concepts, satellite remote sensing and latest development in RS. It will enable students to utilise these technologies in their respective fields of research.
