School roof collapse: 8-year-old girl dies, three boys injured

An eight-year-old girl died while other three boys were injured when the roof of their classroom fell down in Ali Akbar Shah Goth on Friday.


According to Ibrahim Hyderi police, the incident occurred in a private school called Efa Ilam Private School, located in the Bangali Para area of Ali Akbar Shah Goth.


The children were sitting inside the class at around 10:30am while an electrician, who was working at the school building, suddenly fell on the asbestos cement-sheet roof of the classroom. The sheets broke down and fell on the children in classroom. As a result, eight-year-old Misbah died, while three boys Mohsin, Kamran and Ahmed Siddiqui were injured.


Ibrahim Haideri SHO said the electrician was working for the school.


The body of the girl was taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) while the  injured boys were taken away by their parents, said the SHO. JPMC emergency section in-charge Dr Seemin Jamali said the girl was brought dead to the hospital and she had injuries on her body.


An FIR against the school principal, Abdul Rasheed, was registered at Ibrahim Hyderi police station on behalf of the state. The sections included in the FIR are 319 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
