
According to Director Seismic MET Islamabad Zahid Rafi the epicenter of the earthquake was near Hafizabad, 66km below the surface. He said that the duration of the earthquake was around five second however people would have felt it for a few seconds longer. He said that no aftershocks were recorded.

The shocks were felt as far away as Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala.

On Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale rocked Peshawar and its vicinity.
According to the meteorological department the quake measured 5.4 with its epicentre in the Hindu Kush mountain range and 170 kilometres deep.
The earthquake was also felt in Chitral and Malakand division.
There were no immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life.
