Twitter Alert: Taseer slams Transparency International

Salmaan Taseer and Hussain Haqqani accuse Transparency International of foul play in recent corruption report.

Pakistani politicians are really getting a hang of keeping their followers updated on Twitter.

While Marvi Memon has made use of Twitter to update her followers with her every move, the most recent being her trip to Kashmir, others like Governor Punjab Salman Taseer use it to not let any moment pass without passing a remark about his many opponents.

Former President Pervez Musharraf recently showed the JWP that two can play at that game, when he announced filing an FIR against Talal Bugti for placing a bounty on the former general. Ijazul Haq hoped for a fair verdict on the NRO, while Ambassador Hussain Haqqani questioned the validity of the ‘Perception of Corruption’ Index.

We present a round-up of what politicians have been posting on Twitter recently.

Salman Taseer

Transparency International is neither international nor transparent. One man operation by Asad Gilani JI. Disgraceful stunt to malign the government.

Congratulation Asma Jahangir for breaking the back of the judge/ PML-N mafia! Great victory

Hussain Haqqani

How is Perception of Corruption Index a measure of real levels of corruption? Cant the corrupt 'buy' positive perceptions?

Pervez Musharraf

APML has filed an FIR against Bugti for his criminal act of announcing a cash bounty for my murder in front of the whole world.

Ijaz ul Haq

The Bank of Punjab, Steel Mill and NRO all going to become part of history, similar to the judgement on 18th Amendment.

Marvi Memon

Battal sector LOC Firing by indians. Pathetic action by the invaders. We are proceeding towards LOC sector. No firing will deter us.

Mushahid Hussain

US policy or double-standard? Pakistan is publicly pressured to 'take on' Afghan Taliban, while Karzai is prodded to talk to them secretly.

Naveed Qamar

Gas loadshedding on the Anvil. Wish we could fast track our LNG, SNG and pipeline projects.
