Police recovers girl kept locked up in house by father

SHO Waris Khan says police raided house, discovered that contrary to media reports girl was not tied or locked up.

PESHAWAR: Acting on media reports of a girl being chained up in a room by her father, Hashtnagri police raided a house in Saray Karam Chand Tuesday evening and recovered the girl.

According to SHO Waris Khan, when police raided the house they discovered that contrary to media reports Shahnaz was not tied or locked up.

“She was not chained at all. In fact she suffers from mental illness and her father is unable to afford her treatment,” said Khan.

He added she had been shifted to a hospital and will be produced in court to testify against her father once she recovers.
