Crackdown on crime: Three suspects killed in encounter

Sindh government had also announced a head money of Rs1.5 million on Baloch.

KARACHI: Three alleged criminals were killed in an encounter with Rangers in Lyari's Nayabad area on Tuesday night.

According to a spokesperson for Rangers, when personnel raided a suspected hideout of criminals, the suspects opened fire at them. During the alleged exchange of fire, two suspects received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The third suspect was arrested in an injured condition, however, he later died on the way to the Civil Hospital.

The three men were identified as Irfan Ali alias Fauji, Afzal Baloch alias Qasim and Hanzalah alias Jalil.

According to sources, the three men were allegedly associated with a militant outfit. Officials also claimed to have recovered weapons along with hand grenades and explosives from their possession.

Sindh government had also announced a head money of Rs1.5 million on Baloch. They were allegedly involved in sectarian violence and were reportedly planning a major terrorist activity in the city, added the spokesperson.
