It is government’s duty to alleviate the suffering of the people of Thar, says adviser to K-P chief minister.
PESHAWAR:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Tuesday urged the government of Sindh to help the drought-stricken people of Thar in earnest.
“The people of Sindh have voted the incumbent government into power several times. In this crisis, it is the government’s duty to alleviate the suffering of the people of Thar,” said Adviser to K-P Chief Minister on Relief and Rehabilitation Yasin Khalil while addressing a news conference at the Civil Secretariat.
“We ask this of the Sindh government without any political motive,” added Khalil.
Sharing details of the relief package the K-P government has sent to Thar, Khalil said, “A seven-member delegation led by K-P Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General (DG) Tahir Orakzai recently visited Thar with relief goods worth Rs100 million donated by the K-P government.”
He added edibles including rice, pulses, dates, mineral water and other relief items were dispatched and will be distributed by PDMA Sindh.
