Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey engage in technical trilateral consultations

Strong emphasis was laid on reconstruction and economic development in Afghanistan.

The three sides discussed situation in the region with a focus on recent economic and political developments.

ISLAMABAD:
A technical-level trilateral political consultations between Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan was held in Islamabad on Tuesday where emphasis was laid on reconstruction and economic development in Afghanistan.

According to a release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, director generals of the three countries led their respective sides in the inaugural session of the trilateral consultations.

The three sides discussed situation in the region with a focus on recent economic and political developments. The possibilities of enhanced collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, energy and infrastructure were explored.


Strong emphasis was laid on reconstruction and economic development in Afghanistan.

The three sides also discussed possible joint efforts in the framework of international organisations.

The Pakistan side was led by director general (Afghanistan)  Mohammad Iftikhar Anjum, the Turkish side was led by director general for South Asia Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, and the Afghan side was represented by director general, first political division Ambassador Abdul Samad Samad.
