ISLAMABAD:

The capital’s lawyers Tuesday announced to start a sit-in from next week if the city district courts were not shifted to their building located in Sector G-10.

The announcement came during a token protest held in front of the Parliament building. “We have decided to start a sit-in from March, 24 against the delay in shifting the courts to Sector G-10,’’ said Islamabad District Bar Association President Naseer Ahmed Kayani.

The G-10 building is currently occupied by the Islamabad High Court.

After the March 3 bomb-and-suicide attack, the lawyers pushed the administration to shift the courts.

A day earlier the lawyers had rejected the administration’s proposal to shift the courts to the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) building. “This is just a token protest and if demands are not met, we will stage a sit-in in collaboration with Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi bench,” said Kayani.
