ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday decided to disburse cash to the affected people of Tharparkar, Express News reported.

The distribution will be done through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and around 78,000 people of the drought-hit district will receive money under this plan.

The natural calamity in the area has so far claimed lives of more than a hundred children. The death toll rises almost everyday as authorities struggle to address the issue.

However, the health department has confirmed only 72 deaths and associated them with illnesses such as pneumonia, dysentery and blood infection.

Earlier during his visit to Tharparkar, the prime minister had announced an aid package worth Rs1 billion.
